Shokz 2020 New Product Launch: OpenMove Bone Conduction Headphones Released

Published: 2022-12-13

Thirteen months after its last launch event, Shokz held its 2020 new product launch themed 'Riding the Waves, New Voice' on August 18, introducing the entry-level OpenMove sports bone conduction headphones at a price of 598 RMB. Additionally, Shokz deepened its partnership with the Tour de France by inviting top cyclist Chris Froome as brand ambassador and launching the Froome Edition Aeropex Tour de France co-branded set.

At the beginning of the event, Mr. Chen Hao, founder of Shokz Technology Co., Ltd., shared the company's future and current status.

Shokz 2020 New Product Launch: OpenMove Bone Conduction Headphones Released

Shokz adheres to original bottom-layer innovation, with deep expertise in bone conduction and acoustics. It holds hundreds of patents across 15 countries and regions, with numbers continuing to grow. In particular, core technologies for bone conduction headphones, such as transducers and acoustic units, are independently developed by Shokz, maintaining long-term industry leadership.

With continuous technological advancement, innovative tech products are becoming everyday items for households. The OpenMove sports bone conduction headphones launched today represent a key step in making bone conduction technology accessible to all as a daily-use product.

Since AirPods, Bluetooth earphones have trended toward true wireless, with brands like Samsung launching TWS earbuds. However, Chen Hao remains confident that open-ear bone conduction headphones are incomparable in safety and comfort. In the future, bone conduction and TWS earphones will complement each other, becoming two major forces in the headphone market.

Sales are one measure of product strength, so Shokz shared its global performance from the past year. In the first half of 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Shokz's North American sales reached $78 million, up 57% year-over-year. In the U.S. NPD Bluetooth sports headphone ranking, Shokz rose from fifth in 2018 to third now. Shokz's sales network covers over 40 countries and regions across five continents, with products available in many well-known retail outlets.

Mr. Yang Yun, Marketing Director for Greater China, shared Shokz's two core philosophies: 'technological innovation' and 'user-centric thinking'. Whether in professional or consumer fields, Shokz places great emphasis on R&D and innovation, especially in underlying technology, leading comparable products by over five years. When developing new products, the design team, composed of young generation, tests samples in various real-life scenarios based on their own needs and market research. After 14 iterations, they delivered the OpenMove sports bone conduction headphones, offering near-flagship experience at just 598 RMB.
