2017 Cross-Strait Science and Technology Experts Forum Held in Guangzhou, Focusing on Cross-Strait

A New Era of Conventions – How to Improve the Quality of Guangzhou Conference Services?

On the morning of the 18th, the opening ceremony of the 2017 Cross-Strait Science and Technology Experts Forum was held in Guangzhou, hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology. The forum, themed "Cross-Strait Co-Innovation, Science and Technology for Common Development," focused on discussions and project cooperation on topics such as technological innovation, the Belt and Road Initiative, supply-side structural reform, ecological civilization, Healthy China, and building a new Fujian. Attendees at the opening ceremony included Shu Wei, Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology; Liu Qunying, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Fujian Provincial People's Congress; Dong Biyou, Deputy Director of the Exchange Bureau of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council; and Li Huiyue, Deputy Mayor of Guangzhou. Over 500 experts, scholars, and business representatives from both sides of the strait participated in the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Shu Wei stated that as both sides of the strait are in a historical period of industrial transformation and economic upgrading, the science and technology communities on both sides should strengthen cooperation to promote integrated development and mutual benefit in science, technology, and economy. The new era, new situation, and new tasks require new concepts, new ideas, and new strategies in technological innovation. Everyone should seize the opportunity to continuously advance cross-strait science and technology exchanges and cooperation to a broader scope, larger scale, and higher level. Looking ahead, the science and technology and industry sectors on both sides should firmly embrace the concept that both sides of the strait are one family and share a common destiny, creating mutual benefits, enhancing the well-being of compatriots on both sides, and jointly maintaining the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
