Methods for Selecting Public Relations Planning Cases
PR event companies: PR planning cases are an important way to reflect a PR company's business capabilities. So, how should we analyze and select PR planning cases?

1. Make the case content description more concrete: Generally, PR planning case materials basically cover project research, project strategy, project implementation, project effects, and other main content. Since readers of the materials (such as judges/experts) have not had the opportunity to participate in the event itself, evaluating whether a case is selected mainly relies on the descriptions in the submitted materials, combined with their own existing experience (prior experience), based on intuition. For example, for the project effects item, currently, the main data provided are surface-level monitoring data such as coverage volume, exposure volume, and interaction volume, but there is a lack of in-depth analysis of topics, feature words, hotspots, and other data. Therefore, the current evaluation of PR effects mainly stays at the "output" level of PR, and the depiction of "results" needs improvement. For example: analysis of audience sentiment discourse, context, tendencies, and behavioral trajectories and tendencies before and after communication; additionally, adding a Q&A session for whether a case can be selected would enhance the depth of content insight, whether this Q&A is conducted face-to-face or via video/audio across space.
2. Enhance the sense of reality in selection methods: PR planning case materials involve various industries, so the submission formats are diverse. How to conduct non-prior rational evaluation of case content is an obstacle that selectors need to overcome; if case content is combined with annual development and event characteristics, it is a method to enhance its sense of reality; it is easier to comprehensively, deeply, and objectively understand the project situation.
3. Highlight differences in the scope of case selection: The rapid development of IT, internet, and related technologies has caused profound changes in the theory and practice of the PR and communication industry; this transformation will also be reflected in periodically held PR case competitions; there are differences in the application characteristics and development across different fields and industries, so the scope of cases can be more differentiated, such as: selecting separately from corporate PR departments and PR companies in different industries, government agencies and financial PR, medical and health industries, and the public sector.
4. Place more emphasis on practical abilities in evaluation criteria: From the descriptive materials of PR planning cases, increasing the weight of assessing practitioners' abilities to summarize and refine in actual combat, as well as other PR and communication behavioral abilities, will help PR industry practitioners actively improve their behavioral talents in actual work, such as: enhancing the imaginative ability to comprehend in a directly diverse environment; strengthening the intellectual ability to synthesize and unify the concept of a project in a directly diverse background; improving the judgment ability to present the object contained in this concept in the directly diverse; the accumulation of these three abilities will provide a catalyst for the formation of a flourishing environment of innovation in PR.
